more counting songs.
 
the obvious one in the english speaking world is "The 12 days of  christmas", 
which builds up exactly the same way as echad mi yodeyah, although  without 
any link between the different items sent.
 
in the UK there is a trade union song from the 19th century which begins  
"I'll give you one-oh, green grow the rushes-oh", recalling different elements  
of trades union history.  I think the tune to this one may also have been  used 
for other counting songs.
